Retin A and Sensitive Skin

Question:

I was prescribed Retin A for adult acne and large pores a month ago. I am just now considering using it. I have very sensitive skin and would like to know if Retin A can be mixed with a moisturizing cream prior to using?

Answer:

Retin A (tretinoin) can be helpful in treating acne but may cause skin irritation in some people. If irritation or excessive dryness occurs, applying less often can be helpful. You could also apply a moisturizing lotion before applying the Retin A.

Since creams can clog the pores and make acne worse, they should be avoided. For moisturizing, use an unscented lotion, such as Purpose lotion or Moisturel lotion. If irritation or dryness persists, stop treatment and see your doctor.
