What Affects the Test


Factors that can interfere with your test or the accuracy of the results include the following:

  • You use caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, or sedatives.
  • There are changes in your normal activities on the day of the sleep study.
  • The electrodes come off during sleep.
  • Sleep lab noises keep you awake or keep you from sleeping normally during the sleep study.
