What Affects the Test
Factors that can interfere with your test or the accuracy of the results include:
- Urinating within 1 hour of collecting a urine sample or a fluid sample from the urethra.
- Contamination of a rectal sample with stool.
- In women, douching or using vaginal creams or sprays within 24 hours of the test.
- The use of antibiotics before the test.
