Four steps to prevention

No matter what your risk for colorectal cancer, you can lower it. The single most important step you can take is to have regular screening tests, because colorectal cancer can be cured when found early. Screening can also prevent colorectal cancer by enabling your doctor to find and remove precancerous polyps, thereby stopping the cancer before it begins. There are also several other ways to lower your risk, including exercise, weight control, dietary changes, and chemoprevention.
