Alternative and complementary therapies

They go by different names — alternative, complementary, integrative — but the names all refer to therapies outside the conventional, Western medical approach to cancer treatment. Many people are interested in such therapies, which include special diets, vitamin supplements, and spiritual practices. While it is important to choose wisely, some alternative therapies offer a variety of benefits. Be aware, though, that some herbal supplements and vitamins can interact negatively with chemotherapy drugs, so before beginning any of these therapies, make sure to discuss your choice with your oncologist.
