I know an awesome way to get rid of the flu. Just boil some water, add some chopped cabbage, red onion, a ton of garlic, and a little rice (Not too much or it'll soak up all the water in your soup!). You can add potatos too, but if you do I suggest red or sweet potatos. Then when you pour yourself a bowl add a little salt to taste and if you can handle it, as much hot sauce as possible. It really works miracles. You can send me an instant message if you have any questions but it's pretty straight forward. Seriously though, instead of being miserable try this soup. it's amazing and it doesn't take more then 30 min to cook.

I did forget to mention that I do eat a fair amount of garlic, onion, and tomato type foods. Also, my house isn't the cleanest either...not horrible, but it has its dust bunnies, for sure...maybe more immune builders, but lucky my family has no allergies for me to worry about either. Also, I'm an x-ray tech at a major hospital, around the worst germs all the time for the past 4 yrs. Other co-workers sick...me, not one minute.

Am 49 yrs, no flu since 21, no cold for 15 or 20yrs-don't recall ever being sick with kids at home (ages 22 and 20 now). Tho hubby and sons had colds, flu, etc. over the years, I never got it. I think it's just my immune system because I do absolutely NOTHING that I should other than try to eat reasonably healthy and stay normal weight. I did get sick like most people when I was young. One thought on the flu thing...very last time I got it at 21, it was really bad, maybe got immune. But, arthritis is getting to me and my doc just ordered lab tests to see if any rhumatoid,so hope my system isn't so strong to attack itself now. Wish I could give the 'wellness' in me to others somehow!

I think these reasons are the dumbest I've ever read! I'm a 50 year old woman that hasn't had the flu since I was 12, and I haven't had a cold in so long that I can't remember even 10 years back having one. A monthly massage? Cold shower Uh huh. Right. This falls more under "mind over matter". IF you THINK it makes you feel better, you can make yourself better. Washing your hands...a LOT? Bad idea, because if you sanitize everything you come in contact with, your body can't fight germs/viruses which make you sick. Also, my sons don't get sick either. I make sure we all get plenty of rest. I can look at their eyes and tell if they are starting to look "run down". That is when I give them a shot of Nyquil and have them go to bed a bit earlier than normal.I glad that AOL had this article, at least I know I won't be going to health.com for any health related information because it's obvious crap.

Garlic works because no one gets close enough to you to give you their cold.

The best advice I can give (because i SELDOM get sick) is to QUIT BEING A CLEAN FREAK!!! Anti bacterial soaps are the worst. Make sure you have some pets in the house. I am not saying be a filthy slob but having germs in the environment causes your own immune system to actually function the way it was meant to.EVERYONE I know that comes from a spastically clean home is always sick. They have asthma, allergies, sickness all the time. I missed one day of work last year due to being sick. Yes, wash your hands, but just say no to being a clean freak, your kids will be healthier and more able to withstand germs as well but you have to let them be exposed to it.

It is all baloney. It all depends on your DNA. Why else do you think that one person can smoke cigarettes theirr whole life and never get lung cancer and another gets it before he is 50. It is all in your genes. Live your life the way you want.

Eat Raw Oysters and take 1000mg of Vit C every day....You don't have to eat the oysters every day....but be sure to drink beer before and after you eat them...oh yes....Drink at least 1 beer a day...I haven't been sick since the 80's...:)
