What Happens When We Die?
Near-Death Experiences

We set up a shelf just above the head of the [hospital] bed. On the side facing down – the side you can see while looking up – there’s a triangle. On the other side, which you can only see if you’re looking from the ceiling looking down, is a complex picture.
Imagine you’re lying in the hospital and above you is the shelf. If nobody [who reports a near-death, out of body experience] describes seeing an image, it’s most likely the case that it’s a trick of the mind, an illusion. If somehow they come back and say they saw the triangle, they could have seen it if they opened their eyes. If they come back and say they saw the more complex picture, then their consciousness was continuing.
We want to preinstall 50 to 100 shelves in a minimum of 25 hospitals. We have probably started in about half of those – the majority being in the United Kingdom. We have nine centers in the United States, and we’ve been piloting the method in the United Kingdom for 18 months. While we can’t foresee where cardiac arrests will take place, we expect them to happen in the emergency room and intensive care units. Once they’re preinstalled, we just monitor them. We interview survivors. If we catch a cardiac arrest in real time, we can put a brain monitor on.
We’re also using sophisticated brain technology called INVOS [in-vivo optical spectroscopy] to measure oxygen levels in the brain. All the studies say that whatever we do, we can’t get blood into the brain. How do you know? Maybe there was blood in the brain, but you don’t know. INVOS will tell us how much blood is getting in the brain, so we can correlate near-death experiences. It’s never been done before.
What kind of data have you gotten so far?
It’s very preliminary data so far. We’re just fine tuning the methodology. We have had a small number of people, but we want to recruit about 1,500. The reason is because the incidence of an out of body experience for [cardiac arrest] survivors is only about 2 percent. In order to make the study work, that’s why you have to have so many patients and hospitals. Not only are survivors rare, but out of body experiences are even more rare.

I once had an out of body experience , but it was thru Meditation , I was walking in this grove of trees somewhere and I could see the top of my head and body as if I were floatin just above . I believe they call it Astral travel. It was really Great!

part two---Well what if that nightmare you could never wake up from. That would be your eternity. You believe in heaven and the golden roads then thats where you would end up. They said all the details are skewed even in the most vivid dreams but while your dreaming you don't notice. So that wouldn't be a problem. You would have more of a problem wondering why you can't turn ur porch light on and off. So if death is just one big dream and maybe someday we could wake up from it. Where do we go? Would u want to wake up? Is it as easy as they say. To just WAKE UP. Or do we wake up into nothingness or except death as a whole way of life. To anyone whos interested i suggest watching a Filmed independent animated story called WAKING LIFE. I will tell you.. You will not look at life and death the same ever again. JD VBFLA

I believe that a subconcious second and minute is infinitely longer than an actual second or minute. They say the human brain has the ability to live without blood and oxygen from 12 seconds to 12 minutes. The fact that people can wake up at 2:30 in the morning and go back to sleep and have long drawn out extravagant dreams and wake up just to find out that only one minute has elapsed is very well known. So in that 12 seconds to 12 minutes could be our eternity waiting for us. Im not disproving that their isn't an afterlife or a god, i just believe in tangible items of reference. In this day and age faith has been left or put aside for science. Beliving in what we can see and touch is becoming more of the standard as we learn more about ourselves the world and our past. So maybe in short. Your life and the way that you lived it... IS in fact YOUR ETERNITY. You live your life badly and are always in trouble so much that you have nightmares about going to jail for life. Well wh

part 4...Then he let me get down and I saw another doorway but no door, but all I saw was clouds covering what was on the other side. I walked up to the threshold of that doorway, and he asked me if I wanted to go thru. And at that moment I heard the cries of my three children (who were all under the age of 8) and each I could hear distinctly even though I could not see them, I heard their cries! I could not decide, and I could not be selfish! And somehow I knew if I crossed over they would not be given the chance to come where I was. I could not love them any less than this father I knew, who I knew was the Messiah. and also my Heavenly father. that I realized when I heard his "words" spoke thru me. As my feet were near this threshold, He said to me, " Your unfinished" and then he also said, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" and He "poured" me back into my body, and I floated down as if I was flowing down a stream of water and when I came back into my body,I came in backw

part three..I shined as the person who had LIGHT in him, picked me up. And when he picked me up, I raised my arm out to measure with his arms and we both shown like the sun. He was bright as the sun! I could not believe I was so bright! Even though I was looking smaller than I thought, and my body appeared as LIGHT, yet smaller that this other being of LIGHT! I appeared as an offspring to him. I felt he was my Father. But could not understand for he was not the Father I knew as before in this past life! . I felt that HE was like a giant compared to me, and when he picked me up and placed his large arms around me, I felt as if I was "healed" as he touch my back. (It was weird for I never allowed anyone to ever touch my back, for it pained me when anyone did. Nut I had no pain for the first time in my life, but all I felt was LOVE! It was so euphoric and yet so comforting and I was not afraid! There was three doorways. This was the second door! Then he let me get down and

part two...followed the voice or A voice that said , "come to supper" and heard it several times. (3 times). I saw three steps and walked thru that dark door, and went up and saw another three steps and another door, but this door was as bright as the color of Copper and sparkled like gold. And "in this out of the body, body". I saw things I could not understand. I saw ethereal "clouds" coming and going out this door! The door was no door, but a door, it sparkled like the sun. As I was curious, I touched this "door" and as I did, I felt electrified and drawn thru a door as if it was a quantum leap to some other time and place. It felt as if I went from a shadow of things to the real place, but time seemed to stand still. And where everyone I knew that was dead, was really alive. That caused me to wonder, was I dreaming? But as I thought it, this gravitational pull, pulled me towards this light, and I thought it was the sun. what I saw, I felt was the sun! For it was so

Well, I remember every detail of my near death experience and its been since 1979. I feel I am always at the door of death (since). My heart just missed a beat and before I knew it , I was out of my body ,floating up to the ceiling. My "spirit" floated right out of my eye socket. I always imagined when we died that we leave the body and never go back, but I did go back. The Dr said I had a stroke, but because I waited too long before I could get to see a Dr they found no brain lesions. But he still insisted I had a stroke! Because I lost the use of my left side. The only tell tale signs. But I recalled every thing that happened while out of my body. I heard a voice say, "Come to supper" but I reasoned I just ate lunch and was not hungry! But I was curious. I saw this one door, which appeared as a shadow, I saw three steps and walked thru this dark corridor and who I saw who appeared as that door, he was like a shadow. But what drew me thru the door way was what I saw. I saw my br
