Flu Shot Caused Dystonia?
Desiree Jennings: A Flu Shot Gone Wrong

You may have heard news reports about 25-year-old Desiree Jennings, the girl with the severe reaction to the seasonal flu shot. Her symptoms -- the inability to walk forward, but the ability to run forward and walk backwards -- even appeared as Google Trends, with searches related to her condition. Some believed it was all just a hoax. Her story is garnering celebrity attention, too -- Generation Rescue, the organization founded by Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy to raise awareness about health and safety issues related to vaccines -- has reached out to support Jennings.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) advises against getting a flu shot if you've ever had a severe allergic reaction to eggs or to a previous flu shot. Additionally, if you have a history of Guillain-Barré Syndrome -- a condition which includes symptoms of fever, nerve damage and muscle weakness -- that occurred after receiving influenza vaccine, you shouldn't get the seasonal flu shot. The risk of "serious harm" or death from a flu shot, the CDC's Web site explains, "is extremely small. However, a vaccine, like any medicine, may rarely cause serious problems, such as severe allergic reactions. Almost all people who get influenza vaccine have no serious problems from it."
Jennings, a Northern Virginian and AOL Employee (Full disclosure: This reporter and Desiree Jennings have never worked together before this interview.), who was healthy, training for a half marathon and a Washington Redskins Ambassador preparing to become a cheerleader, never suspected the health complications she is living with now. She is suffering from acute, viral post immunization encephalopathy and mercury toxicity with secondary respiratory and neurological deficits, which she believes is the direct result of the seasonal vaccination she received from her local grocery store chain in August 2009.
Initial reports and diagnoses indicated Jennings had dystonia, a neurological disorder characterized by involuntary muscle contractions that are sometimes painful. But, as of the most recent interview, Jennings's treating physician believes she has acute, viral post immmunization encephalopathy, or a disease of the brain that alters brain function or structure and can include memory loss and personality changes.
In an interview with AOL Health, Jennings, she explains her diagnosis and how her life is forever changed. Watch the video below to hear Jennings talk about her condition.

A dear friend had a flu shot and several years later had a post shot reaction. She is now parylized from the waist down and in a wheelchair. It was a direct result of the the flu shot she received. It was a one in a million chance it would happen...and she was the 'one'.I for one do not, nor have I ever, gotten a flu shot. I don't plan on getting one either.

Omg... that's really scary! I think there's something wrong with the flu shot this year; my little brother also had a reaction (not nearly as severe, though) where his entire arm swelled up, which hasn't ever happened before, and he gets the shot annually (save one or two exceptions) Is it a different formula or something?

For clarification: YES, the flu vaccine may make you have flu like symptoms for the first day or two after getting the shot. Why, because itâs a weaken version of the virus, so your body can build a defense against the real flu. Itâs getting sick for a day versus two weeks. If you get sick off of the weak protein then youâd probably get even sicker from the real flu, probably even die. And the Obama family has already gotten their flu shots with the exception of the President himself.

Somethings up with Obama pushing for everyone to get this shot. His family has not gotten one yet. It's just a money making ordeal.

There are different types of flu's, and there are different types of flu shots. I have never had a flu shot, nor will i ever. People are getting the flu thinking they have the swine flu, they may not. Or they might just have an infection, sinus infection. You can feel sick like you have the flu with those.

Kitty...you are RIGHT ON!!! And people like IBTSwift need to get their heads out from under their rock and look around., All I can say is he better hope none of his loved ones ever suffers from an immunization or vaccination or God help him! I can't believe he/she thinks the government doesn't do harm...DUHHHHHH Mass immunizatioins for babies 5 and 6-in-one????? Tell the doctor you'll come back several times, but NEVER allow a physician to give multiple immunizations or foolish ones like the chickenpox or gardasil. SO unnecessary :(

IBTSwift...you may think it ridiculous that the government would 'injure' its people, but you must have your head buried under a rock! Wake up and look around you, and God forbid you EVER have a loved one who has been affected by immunizations. If you do, God help you!

wow, obviously she couldn't have been that strong and healthy if she felt she needed a flu shot. her immune system alone should have been enough. I've never gotten a shot, and have never gotten the flu.
