What should I discuss with my health care provider before taking omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids?
| Do not use this medication if you are allergic to fish or soybeans. |
Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any foods or drugs, or if you have:
- diabetes; or
- underactive thyroid.
If you have any of these conditions, you may not be able to use omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, or you may need a dosage adjustment or special tests during treatment.
| FDA pregnancy category C. This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. |
| It is not known whether omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids pass into breast milk or if this could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. |
| Do not give this medication to anyone under 18 years old. |
