Lose Water Weight
Get Slim Quick
By Michelle DeLiso
Your body does an amazing job of correcting fluid imbalances. But poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle can tip the scales toward water retention. We have eleven water log prevention tips that will help you look lean this summer.
Surplus salt makes the body retain fluids, but you'll need to do more than hide the salt shaker. Steer clear of high sodium foods like hot dogs, olives, salted nuts, pickles and many frozen foods. Be on the lookout for less obvious sources such as soy sauce, ketchup, deli meats and cheese.
Skip the sugar:
Too much sugar can raise insulin levels, decreasing the body's ability to excrete sodium. Avoid your sugar bowl and foods like sweet cereals, cakes, cookies, ice cream toppings and products containing high-fructose corn syrup.
Don't go Too Low-Cal:
Of Course a low-cal diet will help you lose weight, but shed too many calories and you could create water retention. Don't eat less than 1,2000 calories per day and include lean protein, an important nutrient in short supply in very low-cal diets that helps stave-off water retention.
Get Moving:
Your lymphatic system can't drain excess fluid out of tissues without body movement. Exercise about four times a week to relieve your body of extra fluid and salt through sweating and increased respiration.
Get Dry:
Alcohol acts as a diuretic at first, making you lose excess water. But that loss can lead to dehydration, causing the body to preserve its fluids. Opt for virgin drinks, or dilute that glass of wine with seltzer.
Get Wet:
Take a swim. Water pressure forces fluid out of tissues and ultimately, the bladder. To emulate those results, take some of your workouts to the pool.
Fill Up:
While it seems contradictory, drinking plenty of plain water-8 to 10 glasses per day-will flush salt and fluid out of your system. A well-hydrated body in less likely to retain water.
Stock Up:
Many foods and herbs promote digestion and fluid-shedding: yogurt, fiber-rich cereal, brown rice, cabbage and cranberry juice. Ginger and dandelion have a mild diuretic effect-use either to brew yourself a jug of slenderizing iced tea.

I thought it was just me until I read these comments. I get lured into what seems like an interesting article on the site and after three or four clicks I move on because I can't find it. I think the next thing I will do is dump my AOL account altogether considering ISP is free in a lot of places. It's not worth the hassel and I should certainly be getting more for my money than the runaround on the site.

I'm giving up on AOL "News," it's mostly a waste of my time searching for non-existent articles. Yet, some people seem to have it magically appear as they post comments. Others, like me aren't getting the data. What gives, AOL?

I to cannot get the aol sites to come up.I thought it was just me.I have emailed them several times they don't seem to care.

I agree with the above comments that when one tries to get the information listed in the news section--it is not there. The "teas" item is the latest that simply does not come up when one clicks on the new item. AOL should correct this and make these particular items available. Clicking on becomes such a waste.

I agree on the misleading headlines. But I liked the tips and will try the hot cocoa substitute. I like my tuna alternative better though: Salsa! Cut way back on the mayo and add 1/4 c. - 1/3 c. salsa, or just cut the mayo out altogether. Either way -- Yummy! Also, creamy salad dressings are often soooo thick, but I don't like the way lite dressings taste. Instead, I thin the regular dressing with skim milk. Put equal parts dressing and milk in a shaker and shake very well. Tastes great, coats the salad better and cuts way back on the fat/calories.

one thing i can't stand with aol news is you always have to hunt for what the headline stated. it's never even on the page it sends you too. then when you finally get to it, its covered by a ton of ads.

Dandelion and Ginger would be the two teas to drink, as stated in the article.

Where is the article about the 2 teas for water weight. We go to this site and never find the article that was advertised.
