NutriSystem Diet Food
Our Reviewer Says ...
“If reconstituting [food] with water and heat sounds appetizing ... you may do well on this plan.”
What You Can Eat
By Amy Paturel and Karen Asp
The Nutrisystem plan includes 120 pre-packaged entrees, snacks and desserts, including 60 new products introduced with the NutriSystem Advanced program. Foods are sealed through a soft canning process so they don't require refrigeration. Dieters can choose the foods they like most or order the 28-day "Favorites Package" -- a pre-selected assortment of Nutrisystems's most popular items. Examples range from scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, pasta parmesan with broccoli, beef tacos, flatbread pizza, cheese ravioli with basil tomato sauce, vegetable fajitas and heart minestrone soup. There's even chocolate chocolate chip pudding and a chocolate caramel dessert bar. Each meal includes a few store-bought items like fresh fruits, vegetables, salads and dairy items. The plan adds up to one low-fat protein at each meal, three daily servings of vegetables, two to three fruits, two to three dairy products, two to four whole grains and one to two servings of heart-healthy fats.
Still though, bad carbs such as sugary sodas, processed white bread, candy and similar foods that send blood sugar levels soaring are strictly taboo.
