Nichole Michl: Before and After
Nichole, a 46-year-old graphic designer, says that even though she's managed to take weight off over the years, she was never able to get rid of her belly fat. To help her stick to the plan, she told everyone she knew that she was starting the Flat Belly Diet. "That way," she says, "there was no backing out." She even brought her Flat Belly dishes to a picnic! But instead of feeling deprived, she says she was happy to be eating much healthier food.

These days, with the support of her family and coworkers, she's thrilled with the weight she's lost so far, and plans to keep on going. "With this kind of weight loss plus a flatter belly-it's a lifeplan," she says.

Julie Plavsic: Before and After
After having a baby a couple of years ago, Julie, an immigration lawyer, says she's followed a number of diets in an attempt to lose the last ten stubborn pounds-but nothing worked.

At first, she says, looking at 1,600 calories per day on the Flat Belly Diet, she didn't think she'd be able to stick with it. "But it wasn't hard because the food was so filling," she says. The most challenging aspect for Julie was changing her thinking about food and learning what was-and wasn't-healthy. "I never realized that belly fat can be more dangerous than fat on other parts of the body. With this diet, I'm not only making by body thinner, but healthier."

Kathy Brechner: Before and After
Kathy, 53, says she didn't have that much weight to lose-just five pounds. "But they were the toughest five pounds I've ever tried to get off in my life," she says. She was also concerned that at mid-life the number on the scale could start creeping up, and with a family history of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure, she didn't want that to happen.

That's when she heard about the Flat Belly Diet and its emphasis on eating MUFAs (monounsaturated fatty acids) and the Mediterranean-type foods. But she was concerned about how she'd construct the meals so she could eat with her family. As it turns out, "it wasn't hard at all," she says. "There are so many meal ideas to choose from!"

Evelyn Gomer: Before and After
Evelyn married late in life and, after living in New York City for many years (where staying slim wasn't a problem for her), she and her new husband moved to the suburbs. "For whatever reason, I let myself go," she says. "Completely." When she and her spouse moved back to the city, however, she wanted to return to her old weight-and decided to give the Flat Belly Diet a try.

She first thing she found was that she never felt hungry-and was surprised at some of the foods she could eat. "I adore nuts," she says. "I still can't believe that something so fattening can be so healthy!"

I'm glad that I'm not the only one to notice that the after pictures are wearing better fitting jeans and that they're standing straighter with their stomachs sucked in.

The ONLY "diet" program that actually works is the Weight Watcher's program and it's not really a diet program. It's a reinvent your life program where YOU take control of yourself, not letting some pudgy diva like Jenny Craig do all the work for you. WW teaches you how to cook for yourself, eat properly, and has a long proven track record of success. I eat what I want, when I want it, and then I eat in moderation. I stop when I'm satisfied, not when I'm full. I also exercise more. The WW commercials are correct: DIETS DON'T WORK. Only desperate fools fall for the Jenny Craig, NutriSystem, and all those other horrid box food diets and in the end wind up fatter than ever once their program ends; the only thing that got truly thin was their wallets.

If anyone reads this article and actually falls for it, the writer of the article wrote it for them. Seriously, if you look at the before and after pictures, the women are wearing high-wasted jeans or pants...shorter tops....bad bras or no bra...the lighting is darker...their posture is slouchy and they have a lean-forward look to them....and the after pictures... black pants...longer tops...standing stick straight with shoulders back...lighting is much better... they have great bras. I mean come on! How dumb can they think we are? Please DONT follow this article! Go to Weight Watchers...learn how to eat right...get on a excercise regimen. Get up and move! Then post your own before and after pics...and prove how great you look by being the smarter AOL'er!!

Has anyone noticed in the "before " picture the people are slumped over and frumpy and in the "after" picture they are standing tall and tummies pulled in? I will tell you how these pictures are done in magazines and articles. They "after " picture is done first. Then people are told to gain weight for the "before" picture. I know because I have worked for a major diet sales company. There you have it. The only way to lose weight is tocut carbs, eat less and exercize.

The only way to lose weight is..this is crazy..eat less and move more. You're going to be hungry, but it is the only way to do it.

More of the same nonsense. AOL is getting so irresponsible with this pop culture crap. These weight articles/pics are insulting to anyone who has a brain. You can't lose weight unless you eat healthier and move more period (short of surgery)Shame on these people.I substituted one (or two) meal a day with broiled fish and veggies. Then I ate sensibly (no fast food or desserts) and I lost 15 pounds this summer. I walk and ride my bike every few days. Simple.

Actually you dont have to cut calories way down to lose weight as long as you eat the right amount of protein, fat and good carbs. I went guy in cincinnati that plans diets for girls in figure competitions. He looked at my weight, body type and percent body fat and made a plan for me. There was so much food to eat in one day that it was very had to eat it all but I did. I asked him if I could leave a few food items out because it was too much food. He said no, that I had to eat it all in order for the diet to work. Im glad I listened to him because it really worked well for me, and I am never hungry. I feel sorry for people that starve to lose weight when they dont have to. I have never looked better.
