Nichole Michl: Before and After
Nichole, a 46-year-old graphic designer, says that even though she's managed to take weight off over the years, she was never able to get rid of her belly fat. To help her stick to the plan, she told everyone she knew that she was starting the Flat Belly Diet. "That way," she says, "there was no backing out." She even brought her Flat Belly dishes to a picnic! But instead of feeling deprived, she says she was happy to be eating much healthier food.

These days, with the support of her family and coworkers, she's thrilled with the weight she's lost so far, and plans to keep on going. "With this kind of weight loss plus a flatter belly-it's a lifeplan," she says.

Julie Plavsic: Before and After
After having a baby a couple of years ago, Julie, an immigration lawyer, says she's followed a number of diets in an attempt to lose the last ten stubborn pounds-but nothing worked.

At first, she says, looking at 1,600 calories per day on the Flat Belly Diet, she didn't think she'd be able to stick with it. "But it wasn't hard because the food was so filling," she says. The most challenging aspect for Julie was changing her thinking about food and learning what was-and wasn't-healthy. "I never realized that belly fat can be more dangerous than fat on other parts of the body. With this diet, I'm not only making by body thinner, but healthier."

Kathy Brechner: Before and After
Kathy, 53, says she didn't have that much weight to lose-just five pounds. "But they were the toughest five pounds I've ever tried to get off in my life," she says. She was also concerned that at mid-life the number on the scale could start creeping up, and with a family history of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure, she didn't want that to happen.

That's when she heard about the Flat Belly Diet and its emphasis on eating MUFAs (monounsaturated fatty acids) and the Mediterranean-type foods. But she was concerned about how she'd construct the meals so she could eat with her family. As it turns out, "it wasn't hard at all," she says. "There are so many meal ideas to choose from!"

Evelyn Gomer: Before and After
Evelyn married late in life and, after living in New York City for many years (where staying slim wasn't a problem for her), she and her new husband moved to the suburbs. "For whatever reason, I let myself go," she says. "Completely." When she and her spouse moved back to the city, however, she wanted to return to her old weight-and decided to give the Flat Belly Diet a try.

She first thing she found was that she never felt hungry-and was surprised at some of the foods she could eat. "I adore nuts," she says. "I still can't believe that something so fattening can be so healthy!"

acai berry is a rip off. have tried it. i bought one of those belts that you wrap around your stomach and it helps make you sweat in your stomach area. i wear it when i run. and i have lost some inches if you use it regularly it helps. i think overall watching what you eat is what works. i use to be in the army and weighed 165 when i had joined and dropped to 135. now im navy and weigh about 195-200. navy doesnt like that, but pt isnt exactly what the navy cares about. they dont make it a group effort like the army. not saying its their fault. i mean yes i do eat what i like more than i should. but pt if it was more like how the army does it and more constant and more smooly running and scheduling and whatnot was clearer. it would benefit everyone overall. you have to help yourselves and others (army). navy doesnt have comrodery. at least not at the command i'm at. sad.
