Other conditions with symptoms similar to carpal tunnel syndrome


Other conditions that can have symptoms similar to carpal tunnel syndrome include:

  • An injury to the muscles, ligaments, or tendons.
  • A broken bone (fracture).
  • A dislocated bone (one end of a bone is pulled or pushed out of its normal position).
  • Nerve problems in the fingers, elbow, or neck.
  • Certain conditions, such as obesity, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, lupus, or hypothyroidism. (These conditions can also contribute to carpal tunnel syndrome.)
  • Arthritis in the thumb joint or wrist.
