Orthotics for the Achilles tendon
Orthotics for the Achilles tendon
Orthotic shoe devices are made of rubber, plastic, or other molded material and are inserted into the shoe. Orthotics for the Achilles tendon
stabilize the arch and raise the heel so that there is less pull on the tendon.
Orthotics can usually be found at drugstores or sporting goods stores. Ask your health professional how to use one. Custom-made devices, available by prescription, may fit better and be more effective in controlling pain. However, they can be expensive, and most insurance companies do not cover the cost.
