Microdermabrasion for acne scars

Microdermabrasion is a less traumatic and quicker treatment method than chemabrasion, dermabrasion, or laser resurfacing therapy. However, it is best used for mild acne scars and not deeper scarring.

With this technique, the face is gently buffed with a fine sandblaster that sprays tiny crystals across the face. A vacuum sucks up the crystals and dead skin. This stimulates new cell growth. The procedure usually takes less than an hour and leaves the skin only minimally red. However, you may need many treatments to get the best results. This procedure has few, if any, side effects. It's generally safe, and requires no anesthetic.
