Abnormal vaginal discharge after delivery

Abnormal vaginal discharge after delivery may look like a symptom of a vaginal yeast infection, but the abnormal discharge could be caused by something else. If you have mild vaginal itching along with the abnormal discharge, do not use nonprescription medicine to treat the itching until you talk with your doctor.

If you have symptoms of a pelvic infection or think you may have a sexually transmitted disease (STD), do not have sexual intercourse until you see your doctor. This will reduce the chance of spreading a possible infection to your partner. Your partner may also need treatment.
