Other Treatment

Removal of the uterus (hysterectomy) may be a treatment choice for some women who have had an abnormal Pap test if both of the following are true:

  • They are done having children.
  • They have other gynecological problems, such as heavy irregular bleeding that does not improve with medication, that would also be treated with a hysterectomy.
