I personally think that smoking should not be banned from resturants, there is nothing better then to have a cig after eating a good meal. nobody seems to have a problem with the ppl getten wasted at the bar. If I am paying good money to go out and eat, it should'nt be a problem to have a smoke..we should not have to go outside. As far as smoking around children, that is understandable I have three kids and untill they grow up n move out the frount porch is my designated area. I choose to smoke because it calms my nerves, I don't drink nor do drugs..I need something to relax me. Yes I do try to respect others that do not like the smell, I swear ppl complain about load ppl in resturants who are there to have a good time, ppl complain about cig smoke..if you know you are a party pooper then stay home. places like golden coral and family resturants..yes non smoking may b the best way to go. but places like ruby tuesday, chilis, outback etc should not

I think that smoking should be banned because of all o the harmful effects it has on the smoker, enviroment, and all the people around them!! I have asthma and allergies, so if someone is smoking or has smoked and the scent of smoke is hanging in the air or their clothes, then that cause me and everyone with asthma to have an asthma attack! So for all of you smokers out there, you should really consider the effects smoking has on others and yourselves, because one day you'll be sick and dieing from your bad habit of smoking and you're going to reflect and ask yourself why you didn't quit or why you even started to smoke. So don't wait til you're sick and need a machine to help you breath, start making a change now before its too late.

No one has to right to tell you you can or cant smoke. I just dont belive that it should be done in enclosed public places like resturants, even though there is a section for it that smoke still travels. And i dont feel it shoul dbe done but so many feet infront of the door way of public buildings.

To ban it would be and is revoking our first amendment. If they take stupid little things away like this, what are they going to take away next. There was a reason that our founding fathers set up these amendments.

Im an adult and I respect those who dont smoke and try to be polite because I know it bothers some people, but in the same respect dont hound me about quiting when Im ready I will. I find it rude to be hounded, voice your opinion and move on. You dont hear me making rude comments, name calling or insalting u beause you dont smoke so dont do it to me cause I do!!!

I've personally experienced far worse effects from cars exhaust fumes (especially trucks) and chemicals for cleaning in closed environments than second hand smoke has ever caused me. I'm talking immediate response from these odors as; watering eyes, gasping for breath and instant headaches that last sometimes for hours. I would take second hand smoke over those any day of the week. So, if so much can be done to ban smoking and second hand exposure, why can't anything be done about the toxic chemicals from accepted sources. I have absolutely no choice when they are in my area. I can't walk off a job site or leave a location easily without repercussions. I can always walk away from second hand smoke when I want or politely ask the person not to. These seem to be a far more reasonable response when it seems improper or is in the wrong environment.

Let's ban fat people from wearing skimpy clothing and eating fast food. That is gross, not smoking. Wake up! We are Americans, Home of the free??? Stop trying to ban adults from making their own choices. Plenty of places that are smoke free intended for non-smokers and/or children. Bars and clubs aren't for your little angel so don't bring them and I won't smoke at the daycare center. Live your own life or move to a socialist country. Oh yeah, they don't care about you or what you want so grow up and enjoy being an American.

Alcoholism kills 10 times the number of people worldwide then the number of deaths due to tobacco usage. Alcohol also causes 1000 times more pain and suffering for friends and family members and unsuspecting others. I don't understand why society ignores this. Why is this acceptable?? They attack tobacco users and fail to recognize the true killer, alcohol ????? Is it because we are a nation of alcoholics and dont want to admit it? The govt. likes to ignore this issue also because it is such a revenue generating machine. If you are going to whine about something, make it something that really does matter. Stop being pathetic sheep following the herd just because the media tells you to do so.

i am a recreational smoker myself--so i enjoy a few cigs after a few beers. however, i am all 4 smoking bans indoors. i love coming home from a restaurant or bar after a long night and Not requiring a shower or washing my clothes. the ban also helps me cut back on the # of cigs i have--so i hope that is doing some good for my health until i am ready to quit. i do live in KY though, so our economy depends on tobacco for now--so until the gov't gets moving on supporting alternative resources we are stuck growing this cash crop.
